Gypsies and Flowers

Finally I have the some time to snatch up with a blog post. A few weekends ago Chloé, Ariel and I had a photo shoot. But this one was a little different meaning we actually had a professional photographer take the photos, his name was Tony Au. There are tons of photos but here are a select few that I picked out. The theme we were going for was gypsies, Chloé and I collaborated on these outfits using both of our own items. Enjoy and click to see larger photos.

Ariel: Vinage Cynthia Steffe Sweater, Vintage Dyed Dress, and Floral Headband that Chloé made
Chloé: Forever 21 Blouse, Skirt that she made, Tights, Jeffrey Campbell Heels

ALMOST SUMMER WISH LIST

Well, summer is almost here so I guess it is time for some summer shopping!!! My favorite season deserves some really great clothes and accessories and just plain stuff. So here is a list of seven items that can all be ordered online and a few can be purchased in the store.

Brighton Platforms
Even though these shoes are rather wintery (thats a word right?) they could still be made summery with maybe a cute floral dress or a loose, sheer blouse. Anyways, I really love these shoes and if you are looking to get them, hurry because they are selling fast.
True Religion "Hippie Chic" Perfume
I guess that people could call me a perfume junkie, I grow tired of perfumes super fast. But I have had my eye on this one for quite a while and I still really like the smell. It is floral with a touch of fruity and musky undertones (whatever that means) according to their description but to me it just smells like pure summer, and whats better then that?
Bumble and Bumble Beach Spray

This stuff is soooo amazing, I kind of need it right now. It instantly makes your hair more interesting and you look like you just stepped of the sandy shores of Venice Beach. It is good for any hair type, even my pin-straight, plain brown locks.
BB Dakota Dress
Yes I know, a little black dress. But for some reason this one really caught my eye. With the interesting detail on top it is just interesting enough to be separated from all the others. Also, rather wintery but can be worn at night or to events during the summer.
Voluspa "Crisp Champaign" Candle
Such a delicious smelling candle, I wish I could marry it. Can be a winter or a summer scent but either way it is still god on a jar.
Voluspa "Saijo Persimmon" Candle
I know I know, another candle, I guess I am a little obsessed. But this candle actually resembles my dreams and is in such a cute little ceramic container. Voluspa makes their candles with coconut wax and what is better then coconuts? Am I right?

Sunglass Case
Just a cute little case for your sunglasses. You can get this little item at Urban Outfitters or you can order it online. But I love the star sunglasses on the outside and the fabric makes it really easy to through in your bag.

So, there you go. Seven items that are great for the coming summer months and hey, my birthday is coming up (not really) so if you need something to get me, here are a few ideas.

Neutral, Neutral, RED

Here is this look with neutral after neutral after neutral.  Semi-bland right? And red, seriously!?! Red is one of those colors that I try to avoid wearing alone at all costs, it is just painfully obnoxious in my opinion. Now after I have criticized and condemned this little number I will attempt to explain to you why I still love it. Yes, I do love it (if I do say so myself). Normally I would go for an outfit that possesses some sort of pattern but when you have a mainly neutral outfit plus a few pops of color, adding a pattern might be a bit of an over-kill. There is no killing needed... really. The pop of red adds just enough importance to this look that forces people to look your way. And to be perfectly honest, there is no better pair then fire engine red and a good neutral. It's is kind of like the game duck, duck, goose. You have duck after duck after duck but then everyone is surprised when goose is called. Just like adding a little color to a neutral look will provide just enough wonder to the person you pass at the super market (because I totally go to the super market all the time). Now to explain each of the different pieces. I have a strange obsession with booties and high-waisted jean shorts (even though me closet seem to have a shortage of these such items) especially together. I would generally try to not to pair black and grey together because it makes for a wishy-washy type o' look. This look would look better with a cream or nude colored cardigan (polyvore lacked exactly what is was looking for). But the over all concept is what counts, right?? Yea, I would say so. Well sorry I haven't blogged very recently (school is an actual homicide) but with spring coming and my spirits genuinely brightening, hopefully I will find it in my heart to blog. I know the polyvores get kind of boring so next time I will try to mix it up.

U-hyu'-s-ti!!

(That mean bye bye in Cherokee... did you know I am a small portion native american... haha I am really tired)

Grunge Defined by Fashion

Today I had a lovely photoshoot with two of my friends, Dora and Chloé. Chloé and I styled the outfits in collaboration (although we used mostly her closet). We went to two different locations in the wonderful city of chicago. The first was an old rustic bridge over the Chicago River. This location had a gorgeous view of the skyline and an old warehouse. The next locations we went to was a junk yard. I know, not very glamorous but the contrast between our high-fashion outfits and the begrimed setting of the junk yard was really interesting to shoot. Today was so fun and was a good, much- needed break from studying for final exams. Check out Chloé's blog for more photo's from this shoot, www.chloeakari.blogspot.com  And please click on photo's to enlarge. Happy New Year!
